 |  November 2021

Associate - Dispute Resolution

  • 2 to 4 years PQE
  • Focus on mentoring and development
  • Genuine career progression

Our Practice
Deutsch Miller (DM) is a fiercely independent, premier boutique firm based in Sydney, NSW. Established in the jurisdiction for over 10 years, DM partners and solicitors have either trained and/or spent a significant amount of time working in top-tier firms, but have found the boutique law firm environment far better suited to their entrepreneurial and innovative aspirations. DM has developed an exceptional client base and success in various high profile matters not usually in the domain of other firms of equivalent size. We value our people and offer a highly professional environment with a genuinely authentic, supportive, and flexible culture.

The Role
DM deploys a lean and agile team to deliver bespoke, cost-effective legal solutions. You will be “on the tools” working directly with senior lawyers and Partners, with direct responsibility and routine client contact. You will be part of a team that focuses on mentoring and professional development. You will be involved in the entire litigation process, and not confined to discovery or document review.

The Ideal Candidate
You will need a solid understanding of the basics of litigation in the Supreme and Federal Courts, including the preparation of Court documents, pleadings and affidavits. You will have sound research skills, and the ability to decipher complex legal issues and provide practical advice, in a collaborative and supportive environment. As lawyers, we need to have effective communication and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, strong organisational and time management skills and a pragmatic mindset. Our ideal candidate will combine these practical skills with strong academic results. We understand that at this stage of your career you don’t always get it right: we provide constructive and fair feedback and are mindful of what stage you are in your career and where you want to get to.
